One of the research laboratories that has close collaboration with Sharif Networked Control Systems company (SharifNCS) is the cyber physical and the Internet of things laboratory located in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. This Lab. was founded and is managed by Dr. Alireza Farhadi (Associate Professor of the EE department at Sharif University), who is also the CEO of the company For this reason, SharifNCS has a strong tie with academia and this is one of the unique feature of SharifNCS. This strong tie helps SharifNCS to quickly identifies new challenges facing energy reduction efforts of the country; and subsequently, establishes the best research teams of the country to address these challenges. Some of the main achievements of this collaboration are as follows:
- Design and development of a new method for active cyber security counter attack
- Design and development of a novel method for fine estimation of heating/cooling demand of building and subsequently adjusting the central boiler/chiller of building setpoint (central engine room reset control) proportional to this estimation
- Design and development of a new method for distributing the computational load of the central server to distributed thermostats for the fine estimation of heating/cooling demand in order to increase the resilience of the smart HVAC system
- Developing a Software package for thermal modeling of building
- Developing a digital twin for smart heatthe undering/cooling system of SharifNCS system
Some of the current R&D projects of this lab. are:
Estimation of the base line for the fine estimation of the energy reduction using SharifNCS smart solutions via artificial intelligent methods
Design and development of smart HVAC system for buildings equipped with multi zone air handling units with the objective of energy reduction as well as inside air quality
Using artificial intelligent methods for enhancing the performance of SharifNCS smart system
